NEET NEET UG 2020 - National
Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Under Graduates acronym as NEET-UG will be
taken by CBSE (National Testing Agency i.e. NTA from 2019) on behalf of
the Ministry of Health and Medical Science from 2017 again (replacing State Level
Medical Entrance Tests as well as CBSE's AIPMT) to
admit aspiring candidates to the undergraduate medical course (MBBS and BDS) throughout
India. From 2019 the test will be taken online and twice a year in the
months of Feb and May every year. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of
NEET UG scores which will be applicable for admission to nearly 355 recognized
MBBS colleges and 300 BDS colleges. However State Quotas and Reservations in
Medical Colleges would remain intact as National Eligibility cum Entrance Test
will draw up merit lists at national and state levels separately for General
Category, SC, ST and OBC and PD candidates. Besides, NEET-UG will not interfere
with the management quota of private medical and dental colleges. Although NEET will be applicable to mostly all
the Medical Colleges in India there were some exclusions. These are AIIMS - All
India Institute of Medical Sciences and Post Graduate Institute of
Medical Education and Research (PGIMER-Chandigarh)
as these institutions were set up by separate laws and will be out of the
purview of NEET-UG. Educational Qualification Note: Those students who have done their
12th class from OPEN SCHOOL are not eligible to take NEET-UG 2020. Also Indian
citizens, non-resident Indians, overseas citizens of India, person of Indian
origin and foreign nationals are eligible to appear in NEET (UG) 2017 and will
also be eligible for 15 per cent all India quota seats. Age limit: The
upper age limit of the candidates has been fixed 25 years on the date of
conduct of examination in which five-year relaxation has been given to the
reserved category candidates. Age limits Other Eligibility
Conditions Number of Attempts There shall be three attempts available
uniformly for all the candidates in the NEET examination. NEET UG 2020 Pattern NEET UG will be pen and paper-based single
response type MCQ paper with a maximum of 720 marks to be completed in 3 Hr. Important: NEET-UG
will be conducted in the six languages i.e Gujarati,
Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, and Tamil, apart from conventional English,
Hindi. During the
evaluation of NEET-UG paper following criteria would be adopted ·
Marks in the
Biology section of the paper (Higher marks will be placed higher in the rank) ·
Marks in
Chemistry section of the paper (Higher marks will be placed higher in the rank) ·
Marks in Physics
section of the paper (Higher marks will be placed higher in the rank) ·
Total number of
negative responses (Fewer negative responses will be placed higher in the rank) ·
Date of birth
(the older person will be placed higher in the rank). There will not be any negative
marking in the NEET-UG exam and the merit list will be prepared on the
basis of percentile score of all NEET MBBS applications. There can be
a cut-off percentile of eligible applicants in the exam for admission to
undergraduate medical courses in India and it may be fixed
to 50 percent for general and 40 percent for SC/ST
