JEE Advanced Overview

JEE Advanced is a national-level engineering entrance test for admission into engineering programs. Lakhs of science-background students appear for this exam all across the country to get admission to their dream engineering colleges. It is conducted by any one of the selected 7 IITs, including IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee and IISc Bangalore. This year, IIT Guwahati will be in charge of conducting it.
Through this exam, qualifying candidates will be offered admission into undergraduate courses granting Bachelor's degree, Integrated Master's and Bachelor-Master dual degree in engineering, architecture and sciences. These degrees are BS, B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Tech-M.Tech dual degree, 'BS & MS dual degree', integrated M.Sc., and integrated M.Tech. The admission process is common and overseen by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). -
What's new in JEE Advanced 2023?
The JEE Advanced 2023 exam will be conducted by IIT Guwahati this year, on 4th June 2023. The exam will be held in two batches - Paper 1 from 9 AM to 12 PM and Paper 2 from 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM. It will be a computer-based test, and registration will begin on April 30th, 2023. The last date to register for the exam is May 4th, 2023.

Here are the revised dates for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam. -
JJEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria
· The requirements for admission into IITs through JEE Advanced include a qualifying exam, minimum grades, and more. Candidates will be disqualified if the JEE Advanced 2023 qualifying requirements are not met. It should be mentioned that JEE Advanced 2023 will only accept applicants who have passed JEE Main.
Before submitting their application, all applicants are urged to review the JEE Advanced 2023 eligibility requirements to see if they qualify for admission or not. Candidates must meet all requirements for JEE Advanced eligibility, including those relating to age, the number of attempts, qualifying exam scores, and more.
This year, there has been some relaxation in the eligibility criteria for the candidates. Here are the 5 criteria:- JEE Main 2023 Scores - Candidates from all categories should be among the top 2,50,000 candidates in the JEE Main 2023 BE/B.Tech exam.
- Number of Attempts - A candidate may attempt JEE (Advanced) no more than twice in two consecutive years.
- Prior Admission to IITs - Regardless of whether the applicant stayed in the programme or accepted an IIT seat by reporting "online" or at a "reporting centre" in the past, the applicant will NOT get admission to an IIT.
- Age Limit - Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have been born on or after October 1, 1998. Candidates who are SC, ST, or PwD are permitted a five-year age relaxation; therefore, they must have been born on or after October 1, 1993.
- Class 12 Examination Appearance Requirements - Students who graduated from high school in 2022 or 2023 are eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced 2023.
- Candidates who successfully enrolled for JEE (Advanced) 2022 and took the class 12th (or equivalent) test for the first time in 2021 or 2022 but did not show up in any of the papers may apply for JEE Advanced 2023. Such candidates are not required to meet further requirements.
- Candidates who completed class 12th in 2021 or the equivalent should have only taken the JEE Advanced exam once, in either 2021 or 2022. Additionally, they must succeed in JEE Main 2023 and be ranked in the top 2.5 lakh applicants.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreigners
Foreign national candidates must meet a distinct set of JEE Advanced 2023 qualifying requirements. Candidates who are not Indian citizens or whose parents are not from India are regarded as foreign nationals. Candidates who do not fall under the OCI/PIO criteria are counted as foreign nationals. NTA (National Testing Agency) provides the following instructions for overseas applicants who intend to take the JEE Advanced exam:- According to GOI guidelines, foreign nationals are not granted any reservations under any categories.
- Foreign nationals applying for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam should have finished their 10+2 level education.
- International students in India will be eligible to take the JEE Advanced test under the OPEN category if they have completed their class 12th boards with the required percentage.
- Foreign Nationals are required to present identification for both of their parents.
- 10% of the available seats in the JEE Advanced course go to foreign applicants.

JEE Advanced 2023 Application Form and Registration Process
After the results of JEE Main 2023 exam, the application form for JEE Advanced 2023 will be released by IIT Guwahati on 30th April 2023. Qualifying candidates would have to register on the official website of JEE Advanced and then fill out the application form online. After submitting the application form online, candidates are required to pay the application fees online, for which the last date is May 5th, 2023.
The detailed steps for the registration and application process are as follows:- First, candidates need to go to the official website of JEE Advanced and register with their roll number for JEE Main 2023 exam, password and a security pin.
- Then, the candidates will be asked to fill in details like their names, parents’ names, contact details, addresses and others. Candidates must ensure they enter the correct details as incorrect details may pose problems at later stages.
- After this, candidates will have to fill in their choices for the exam centres. Students may choose up to eight cities for the exam on the form.
- Lastly, they will have to scan and upload their passport size photograph as well as signature.
- After this, they can submit their form, pay the application fee, and take a printout for future references.

The JEE Advanced 2023 exam pattern is as follows:- The exam will be conducted in an online mode (computer-based test) only.
- There will be two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. The duration of each paper will be 3 hours and all the candidates must give both exams. Hence, the total duration of the exam will be 6 hours.
- The exam will be in Hindi and English languages. Candidates can opt for either of the two.
- The marking scheme for the exam changes each year. Hence, instructions regarding the marking scheme would be mentioned in the “Instructions to Candidates” section of the exam paper.
- There will be three different sections in both papers - Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
JEE Advanced is a prestigious examination and cracking it would get candidates into some of the top institutes in the country. However, it is one of the most difficult exams in the country, making it very challenging. - You will be asked to log in with your JEE Advanced registration details.
- After this, you can download the JEE Advanced mock test.
Candidates who have registered for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam and paid the registration fees will be issued the admit card for the exam, wherein their designated test centre would also be mentioned.
The admit cards will be available from 29th May 2023 till the exam day, which is 4th June 2023. Candidates need to carry the admit card, along with an ID proof to the exam centre, otherwise, they wouldn’t be allowed to enter the exam centre. JEE Advanced 2023 Exam Centres

JEE Advanced 2023 Answer Key and Response Sheet
After the JEE Advanced 2023 exam, the provisional answer keys for Paper 1 and Paper 2 would be displayed on the official website. Candidates can verify their answers from the answer keys and also submit any challenges they might have. After consideration of these challenges, the final answer keys would be displayed. Candidates would also be able to view and download their responses for both Papers 1 and 2. -
JEE Advanced 2023 Result
The result for the JEE Advanced 2023 exam would be announced online. The candidates can log in to the official website to view and download their scores. A candidate's score in Physics for JEE Advanced 2023 will be determined by how well they scored on the Physics section of Paper 1 as well as Paper 2. The calculation of marks in both Chemistry and Mathematics will be similar.
The sum of a candidate's scores in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics will determine their overall score in the JEE (Advanced) 2023 exam. If a candidate receives the qualifying marks in each subject and overall, depending on the category, they are considered to have qualified for JEE (Advanced).
Rank lists are created based on the overall JEE (Advanced) 2023 exam scores. Only applicants who show up for BOTH Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be ranked. No waiting list will exist for ranking.
JEE Advanced 2023 Expected Cutoff
The rank list will only include applicants who receive the minimum required grades in each topic and overall. The cutoffs to take admission will be different for different colleges but the minimum qualifying cutoff is the same.

JEE Advanced 2023 Counselling - JoSAA
The common process held by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will be held in online mode, wherein the seats across IITs, IIITs, NITs and other government-funded technical institutes (GFTIs) would be distributed among the candidates. Participants in the Joint Seat Allocation process must have achieved a Rank in JEE (Advanced) 2023.
JoSAA is only conducted online. To participate in the joint seat allocation procedure, all applicants who meet the admissions requirements must fill out a list of the courses and institutions they like.
